Contains photographs, negatives, correspondence, manuscripts, newspaper clippings, journals, books, court documents, and other research related materials. It also consists of approximately two hundred hours of audio interviews, some of which are transcribed. The collection is not limited in scope to just the MOWA Indians. It also contains information on the Choctaw Indians, as well as on Washington County, Alabama, and historic Alabama. Some of the material relates to the history, capture, and imprisonment of the Apache leader Geronimo at Mount Vernon Barracks, and includes discussion of Indian treaties throughout American history. Included in the collection, as well, are photocopies of letters to and from former U.S. Congressman Frank W. Boykin and photocopies of a letter that Elvis Presley wrote to then-president Richard Nixon expressing Presley's desire to be given federal credentials.
